Sardinia is made of Cagliari, Carbonia-Iglesias, Medio Campidano, Nuoro, Ogliastra, Olbia-Tempio, Oristano, Sassari. Sardinia's history is very ancient. Human population is at least 150,000 years old in Sardinia. Casu Marzu is a cheese being riddled with live insect larvae. Seafoods, breads, olives, wine, suckling pigs, other cheeses are other Sardinian specialties. Pecorino cheese made from sheep's milk can be enjoyed either fresh, with mildflavor and semi-hard texture or aged with sharp, piquant flavor and hard texture

Porcheddu is the roast suckling pig flavored with herbs and spices and then spit-roasted over an open fire

Fiore sardo cheese is made from sheep's milk and golden in color

Bottarga is made from mullet eggs, and is known as Sardinian caviar. Breads of Sardinia tend to be hard and dry, as they are made only once a week. Typical pasta of Sardinia is malloreddus, a smaller gnocchi with saffron. Wild boar ham, panadas (large vegetable, meat or eel pies), su cifraxu (an enormous sandwich) may be served in Cagliari.
